Frequently Asked Questions

How long do EMDR intensives last?

EMDR intensives are structured to last several hours per session, running for several days. At Kokage Therapy, typically we offer a 1.5 to 3 hour session that occurs over the course of 3 sessions. Additional sessions may be added depending on the situation. Each intensive is personalized and includes client-specific work book, which allows you to work on your treatment goals before, during, and after our intensive sessions.

I already have a therapist. Can I still take an EMDR intensive?

Yes! Actually, EMDR intensives are designed to work in conjunction with your current therapy. We advise you to discuss with your therapist if you are interested. During your intensive sessions, we will be happy to discuss how what you learn can be used to bolster your current weekly sessions.

What is the benefit of an EMDR intensive vs. traditional weekly therapy sessions?

Traditional weekly therapy sessions support the client over the course of months or longer and deal with the day-to-day challenges life brings, as well as those challenges that are life long. However, if the client has a schedule that makes it difficult for weekly therapy, EMDR intensive therapy will suit their needs and offer quicker results in a short amount of time. Also, intensives are a great option for those who are interested in experiencing what EMDR therapy has to offer without a long-term commitment.

How much does an EMDR intensive cost?

Each program will be personalized to fit each individuals' needs. Please contact us to discuss more about what you are looking for and to see if an EMDR Intensive is the best fit for you! Although intensives may have a larger upfront cost and are not typically covered by insurance, the shorter duration of treatment can lead to cost savings and provide relief more quickly, potentially making it a worthwhile investment in your well-being.

Do you offer online sessions? Can I be anywhere I want when I meet?

We currently offer online services only. We are licensed in California and we can serve clients who are anywhere in California.

Does Kokage Therapy take insurance?

We do not take insurance for our services and all payments are out-of-pocket.
